Newport, Oregon Sailing Regatta

We started the weekend out sitting around the campfire at South Beach State Park. Tom and Marti and Bob and Lydia both had campsites there. We thought we were going to have our boat at the marina and stay on it, but we just pooped out and got a hotel. Craig was still trying to recover from jetlag after returning from Shanghai. Also, Tom's brother, Terry, and his friend Cathy showed up too! They brought the most awesome steaks and fed us well.

The next morning was so beautiful that Craig and I decided we would walk across the bridge. Here are pictures of South Beach Marina and Newport Bay. The weather was perfect!

Well, as you can see the weather changed a little. The sun was still out but during the sailing races we had to bundle up.

After the races we decided to drive up to Depot Bay, where there was a Pirate Treasure Hunt competition. This is where they were supposed to be celebrating. I really wanted a picture of a pirate to put on my blog. I think we managed to get there between the hunt and the awards ceremony. We didn't see very many pirates. I was bummed.
